HOOPMAJIC NEWS #8- October 28th, 2009 IN THIS EDITION: Greetings, everyone ~ I hope you're enjoying these golden fall days. For most of my life I'd only suffered through fall, since its only function seemed to be a warning of the cold winter days ahead. A while back, I decided to change my outlook and try to embrace the season. What an eye-opener that was... For so many years I'd spent these few weeks dreading what was to come, only to miss the amazing sights and smells and sounds to be found during this time of change. Fall can be so wonderful, and I can finally appreciate it all. This fall, I am experiencing a personal season of change. I am trying not to go through this with dread, but rather to embrace what we are learning and experiencing. Our lives have been touched by cancer, and although we don't know what lies ahead, there is so much to be appreciated in the here and now. I'm sure there are many of you who have taken this journey and have learned this lesson already. And I hope each of you will find magnificent and wonderful moments to be lived to the fullest, each and every day. Unfortunately, because of the challenges we're going through, Classes and Workshops are cancelled until further notice. We may start a new schedule in January and I will keep you posted. Roberts Creek HoopGroup We've met so many people this summer through Sunday Mandala Hooping and although we aren't offering any actual classes at the moment, I'd like to invite those who are keen to get started to join us on Thursdays at Roberts Creek HoopGroup jam sessions. These take place at Roberts Creek Community Hall from 5-6p.m. First night of the winter session is tomorrow, October 29th. An eight-week pass is $60, and drop-ins are $9. During these sessions I will offer casual instruction, and you are welcome to use the practice hoops provided. Feel free to join us and see whether the group is for you, or email me for more info. Mandala Hooping Season Finale On Sunday, October 4th, our dedicated band of hoopers got together for a fabulous LED hoop extravaganza. Seven lighted hoops created amazing patterns on our gorgeous community mandala at R.C. pier. The full moon shone overhead and twinkling tea lights surrounded our little circle. We got some amazing photos which I'll try to post on the gallery page in the next day or two. Benefit for Jon Laursen Many of you know my wonderful boyfriend, Jon. He's the one you can call on to fix ANYTHING, the man with the big dog and the big heart. Jon has cancer, and his friends have organized a benefit to help him through his treatment while he's unable to work. Come join us to dance, shop at the fabulous Silent Auction, make a donation, hug each other, and show love and support for Jon. Saturday, November 14th, doors at 7:30 p.m.Roberts Creek Hall Dance to The Song Butchers and Friends Silent Auction Tickets available in advance only: $10, through Diane McIntosh, RoseAnn Janzen, Mardi Ahmed, Wild Bistro, the Gumboot Restaurant.
