HOOPMAJIC NEWS #6- August 15th, 2009 IN THIS EDITION: Free hoop play and demos at the R.C. Mandala Creek Daze: Higgledy Piggledy Parade & Hoop Shack Back from Baxter's Workshop Video Inspiration Greetings, beautiful hoopers and soon-to-be-hoopers~ Sunday hoop play at the Mandala will put a smile on your face! Every Sunday we're down at the R.C. Mandala with hoops for everyone. Join us anytime between 4-5:30pm for a casual introduction or to practice with other hoopers. All ages are welcome for these events! (bring water, and sunscreen if our hot weather continues). Our R.C. HoopGroup recently celebrated the completion of this year's Mandala, our Sunday hooping home, with a picnic and commemorative photo. What a gorgeous backdrop for hooping: circles on circles... (Photo: Chris Yeske, adpov.com) Join us in the parade! The Creek Daze Higgledy Piggledy Parade is next Saturday, August 22nd beginning at 11a.m. Last year's parade was a hoot! You don't have to be fancy: if you can walk and hoop at the same time, why not join us? R.C. HoopGroupers: now's the time to show your stuff (and make use of a winter's worth of promenade practice!) Email for details. After the parade, we'll have the Hoop Shack set up down near the pier, with hoops for sale, upcoming class and workshop info, plus a special prize draw. Come by and say hi! Baxter's Workshop was fabulous! A few weeks ago, two of us attended Baxter's HoopPath workshop in Vancouver. Two intense days of hooping, much of it blind-folded! It was great to meet Bax, who is the sweetest guy (aside from being an incredible hooper) and his perspective is surprisingly fresh and different. I'll be incorporating some of what we learned in upcoming workshops and classes. Most important thing I took away from his class: dare to be unselfconscious! Enjoy the freedom of playing in the hoop without worrying about how you measure up, and take the opportunity to express yourself without expectations. Video inspiration: Anah, a.k.a. Hoopalicious, is my latest role-model in the hooping world. Here she is giving a little demo after one of her workshops. I'm inspired by her attention to detail and absolutely love the playful way she moves, isn't she amazing?
