HOOPMAJIC NEWS #5- July 2nd, 2009 IN THIS EDITION: "Sunday Circus" Free demos at the Mandala "Sunshine Line" of beautiful new summer hoops! Sea Cavalcade Parade Video Inspiration Greetings, beautiful hoopers and soon-to-be-hoopers~ We're taking the summer off, but we're still hooping! Although we have no scheduled workshops or classes, it doesn't mean you can't get in the hoop! Our hoopjams and demos are the perfect opportunity to see what hoopdancing is all about, meet other friendly hoopers, and find out if it's for you. Join us this Sunday, July 2nd, at R.C. Mandala (by the pier in Roberts Creek) between 4-5:30pm. We'll bring the practice hoops in all sizes, music, and fun — you bring yourself and your friends (and maybe some water and sunscreen). Stay for five minutes or the whole hour and a half, the cost is free: we want to spread the joy of the hoop! Other "Sunday Circus" dates are noted on our calendar of events. Everyone is welcome, we'd love to see the friendly faces of our workshop students! Also this Sunday, we'll be hooping at Davis Bay Beach between noon and 2pm, sharing in the Sand Castle Competition fun. We'll have practice hoops available for you to try. Join us or say hello! Introducing the Sunshine Line of beautiful new hoops ~These hoops are inspired by the hot colours of summer — they're the shiniest, sparkliest, happiest hoops we've ever made! They feature holographic and bright glitter tapes which catch the sun and reflect brilliant fragments of light as they spin. They have to be seen in person to truly appreciate the effect, photos just don't do them justice: but we tried: 0 0 These gorgeous hoops will be available all summer long at Sequiro's Swimwear in Davis Bay at the Mosaic Market on sunny days! Yes, whenever you see the big awning in the parking lot, our hoops will be waiting for you (mostly on weekends). Check the calendar for dates (more will be added as we know the weather!). Any other time they are available directly through us, contact by phone or email to arrange pickup, or wherever we're holding a hoopjam or demo. We're in the parade! Watch for us in the Sea Cavalcade Parade, on July 25th, in Gibsons. We'll be the ones in the hula skirts, and I'll be the one with the look of terror in my eyes as I try to hoop on a moving float, 3 feet above the ground! Come cheer us on, we'll need it! Afterwards, we'll be hooping down in Lower Gibsons and will have some practice hoops for you to try. Once again, I'd like to share with you some video inspiration. I ran across this video and it absolutely blew me away. Shakti Sunfire is a gorgeous, balletic hooper. Her moves will be an inspiration all summer long as we continue our practice in the hoop. Enjoy!
